Anashigawa River

...The Yamanobe Road passes through the area, and it has been mentioned in ancient songs along with the Makimukagawa River, which originates at Makimukayama and flows southwest into the Hase River. In songs, Makimukayama is often referred to as Makimukayama, and the Makimukagawa River as Anashigawa (Painful Feet River). Examples include "The Painful Feet River, the rippling waves of Makimoku's Yutsukigatake, seems to be standing on clouds" (Manyoshu, Volume 7), and "The mountain people of Makimoku's Anashi Mountain, see them, so let them climb the mountain" (Kokinshu, Volume 20).
