Agnostus - Agnostus

...In the Carboniferous and Permian periods, only the Phillipsiidae family remained as major species, and they became extinct at the end of the Permian period. Recent research on the Cambrian to Ordovician minor arthropods ( Agnostus is an example) has led to a re-evaluation of their classification, with appendage morphology indicating that they are closer to crustaceans than to trilobites, and the classification has been revised. Trilobite research has lagged behind in Japan, but progress has been made since the 1960s, and more than 100 species of Silurian to Permian trilobites are now known from the southern Kitakami Highlands and the Fukuji region of Gifu Prefecture (Yaotsu Town).
