Actinide elements

… In the past, ⁸⁹ Ac, ⁹⁰ Th, ⁹¹ Pa, and ⁹² U were thought to belong to groups III, IV, V, and VI of the periodic table, respectively, based on their chemical properties and other factors. Therefore, ⁹³ Np was also initially called ecarenium and considered to belong to group VII, but since it is often similar to uranium, it was also called uranium. However, as research on electronic structure and other factors progressed, it was discovered that transuranium elements are chemically similar to rare earth elements and correspond to lanthanide elements, and ⁸⁹ Ac to ¹⁰³ Lr were called actinide elements and belong to group IIIA rare earth elements. Therefore, in the periodic table, element 104 is placed under group IVA Hf, element 105 is placed under group VA Ta, and element 106 is placed under group VIA W. …
