Outer marker (English notation)

An instrument landing system for airplanes is installed 7,000 meters from the end of the runway at an airport. Radio waves are emitted from the ground, and when a receiver on the plane receives this, a light comes on, letting the plane know that it is passing directly overhead, and showing the distance to the runway.
