This disease differs from meningitis caused by ordinary bacteria in that the cerebrospinal fluid findings are rather mild, but the course is longer, the mortality rate is higher, and treatment is more difficult. In most cases, it develops secondary to tuberculosis foci in the lungs, and sometimes in lymph nodes and kidneys.
