Leh

...It is a mountainous region in which the four mountain ranges of Karakoram, Ladakh, Zaskar and Greater Himalaya run from northwest to southeast, and the valley of the source of the Indus River, which lies between them, is at an altitude of 2,500 to 4,500 meters. The climate is cool and dry, with the average annual temperature in the central city of Leh (altitude about 3,500 meters) being 5.5 degrees Celsius and the average annual precipitation being only 116 mm. The central and eastern regions, including Leh, are similar to Tibet not only in climate and topography but also in language (Tibetan) and religion (Lamaism), and are therefore also called Little Tibet.
