Polybius was a Greek historian who wrote about the rise of Rome. He was born in the Achaean city of Megalopolis in the central Peloponnese to the statesman Lykortas. He was one of 1,000 Achaeans imprisoned in Italy between 167 and 150 BCE. He remained in Rome and became friends with Scipio Aemilianus (the Younger). *Some of the terminology explanations that mention "Lykortas" are listed below.
