[Fungi as pathogenic microorganisms]
Pathogenic fungi that infect the human body are found in all taxonomic groups except for Basidiomycota, and diseases caused by infection with these pathogenic fungi are called mycoses. The pathogenicity of fungi is generally weaker than that of other pathogenic microorganisms such as bacteria and viruses, and many fungi tend to become chronic after infection, but some fungi, such as Cryptococcus neoformans and Histoplasma capsulatum , show acute, severe symptoms and have a high mortality rate.
