Nitrifying bacteria

…They are also called nitrifying bacteria or nitrate-producing bacteria. In contrast, there are nitrite bacteria that produce nitrite from ammonia nitrogen. The two types are collectively called nitrifying bacteria. Both are important bacteria involved in the circulation of nitrogen in the soil.
