Polystyrene

...A typical general-purpose thermoplastic resin obtained by polymerizing styrene. It is also called styrene resin or polystyrol. The discovery of styrene and polystyrene dates back to 1836 by E. Simon of Germany, but industrialization began in 1933 as styrene-butadiene rubber (Buna S) and in 1935 as polystyrene molded products at the German company IG Farben.
