The name of a Spanish religious organization. It means "God's work" in Latin. It was founded in Madrid in 1928 by Father José María Escrivá (1902- ). It preaches a realistic and individualistic gospel that advocates the embodiment of Christian virtues in one's profession, status, and living conditions. In 1939, just after Franco's victory in the civil war, Escrivá wrote the pamphlet "Camino" (translated in Japanese as "Michi", 1961) and began evangelizing and expanding the organization.
