Japanese: 北（地名） - きた

...the name of the area centered on the transportation terminal near JR Osaka Station in Kita Ward, Osaka City. In the early 18th century, Sonezaki Shinchi was established at the northern end of Osaka Sango and came to be called "Kita." However, when Osaka Station was opened in 1874, it was a rice paddy area in Sonezaki Village, Nishinari County.
