Onoe [town] - Onoe

Japanese: 尾上[町] - おのえ

This old town is located at the southeastern edge of the Tsugaru Plain in Minamitsugaru District, Aomori Prefecture. It is located between Hirosaki City and Kuroishi City, and is served by the Konan Railway. Its main crops are rice and apples, and it also produces grapes. The Saruka Shrine Festival held on August 15th of the lunar calendar is famous as one of the three major festivals in Tsugaru. The shrine grounds are a breeding ground for herons and cormorants (a natural monument). There is also Seibien Garden (a scenic spot). In January 2006, it merged with Hiraga Town and Ikarugaseki Village in Minamitsugaru District to become a city, Hirakawa City. Area: 18.87 ^km2 . Population: 10,358 (2003).

青森県南津軽郡，津軽平野南東端の旧町。弘前(ひろさき)市と黒石市の間にあり，弘南鉄道が通じる。米とリンゴが主産物で，ブドウも産する。旧暦８月15日の猿賀(さるか)神社大祭は津軽三大祭の一つとして有名。境内はサギとウの繁殖地（天然記念物）。成美園（名勝）がある。2006年１月，南津軽郡平賀町，碇ヶ関村と合併し市制，平川市となる。18.87km²。１万358人（2003）。
