Rumination is the process of regurgitating the contents of the stomach into the mouth, rechewing them, mixing them with saliva, and swallowing them again. The stomach of ruminants such as cattle, giraffes, deer, and mouse deer is generally called the ruminant stomach, and consists of four chambers: the first stomach (rumen), the second stomach (reticulum), the third stomach (omasum), and the fourth stomach (abomasum). *Some of the terminology that mentions "rumination" is listed below.
