...the subfamily Cupressaceae, which has fleshy cones, is sometimes separated from the former. The subfamily Cupressaceae includes the genus Chamaecyparis , the genus Thujopsis , the genus Thuja , the genus Juniperus , and the genus Sabina , which grow wild in Japan, as well as the genus Cupressus (distributed in North America, the Mediterranean coast, and China) and the genus Culocedrus ( C. decurrens Florin), which are cultivated in Japan. On the other hand, the subfamily Callitrisinae includes the genus Callitris (Tasmania to New Caledonia), the genus Neocallitris (New Caledonia), the genus Diselma (Tasmania), the genus Libocedrus (Southeast Asia to the Pacific Islands, Oregon to Mexico), the genus Actinostrobus (Western Australia), the genus Fitzroya , the genus Pilgerodendron , and the genus Austrocedrus in southern South America, and the genus Tetraclinis and the genus Widdringtonia , which are found along the Mediterranean coast and in southern Africa, respectively.
