Joruri. Historical piece. Five acts. A collaboration between Takeda Izumo I and Matsuda Kazuyoshi (→ Bunkodo), with corrections by Chikamatsu Monzaemon. First performed at the Takemotoza Theater in Osaka in 1723. The story is based on the story of Prince Daito's attack on the Hojo clan from the Taiheiki, and incorporates the tragedy of the family of Saito Tarozaemon, the lower-ranking official of Rokuhara. In one piece, "Tsuwamono Manzai," a festival (→ Keigoto) in which Murakami Hikoshirō Yoshimitsu gives a cheer insulting Rokuhara, during a free-for-all held by Prince Daito to ascertain the true feelings of the group heading out on the attack, was banned.
