…Italian painter. His father Gaddo and son Agnolo Gaddi (?-1396) were also active in Florence. They trained under Giotto and worked together with him for many years. He painted the series Madonna and Child (1338) in the Baroncelli Chapel in the Santa Croce Church in Florence, inheriting his master's style and showing innovation in the use of light and dark effects and complex spatial composition, but it lacks power. He also left behind the Madonna and Child (1355) in the Uffizi Gallery and the fresco Life of Job (1342) in the Campo Santo in Pisa. …
