During the Carolingian dynasty, church reform was carried out under the Frankish kings who allied with the Pope, paving the way for the unification of Western church law with the Church of Rome at its center. Traditional legal provisions regarding the hierarchy, marriage, and judicial system were restored, and under the rule of Charlemagne, a collection of laws approved by the Church of Rome was published as the Frankish Code of Canon Law, Dionysio-Hadriana (774). To address problems that were not resolved by this reform, such as the secularization of church property and offices due to private church ownership, and various obstacles to the free exercise of bishopric power, the Pseudo-Isidorean Code and other pseudepigrapha were compiled in the mid-9th century, and in the second half of the 11th century, the church itself began a reform movement (Gregorian Reformation) that advocated the establishment of the primacy of the Pope, the realization of the church's freedom from secular power, and the restoration of traditional church law. …

 カロリング朝時代にローマ教皇と提携したフランク国王の下で教会改革が行われ,ローマ教会を中心とする西欧教会法の統一化への道が開かれた。聖職位階制や婚姻,裁判制度に関する伝統的な法規定が復活し,カール大帝の治下で,ローマ教会公認の法令集がフランク王国教会法典Dionysio‐Hadrianaとして公布された(774)。この改革によっても解決されなかった諸問題,例えば私有教会制による教会財産や教会職の世俗化,司教権の自由な行使に対する種々の障害などに対処するために,9世紀中葉に偽イシドルス教会法令集その他の偽書が編纂され,さらに11世紀後半には,ローマ教皇の首位権の確立,俗権からの教会の自由の実現,伝統的教会法の復興を標榜する改革運動が,教会自身の手で始められた(グレゴリウス改革)。…
