…these are motile organelles found on the surface of eukaryotic cells, such as the ciliated protozoa and the ciliated epithelium of metazoans. The plural form is cilia. They are similar to the flagella of eukaryotic cells, but cilia are more numerous per cell and are usually shorter in length.
