Aerosol

Also called an aerosol or aerosol. A type of dispersion system that uses gas as the dispersion medium. An example of a dispersion system in which the dispersed phase is a liquid is fog, and an example of a dispersion of a solid is smoke. It is not very stable, and if left in a container, the dispersed particles will often settle or adhere to the container walls. The so-called smog found in polluted air is a type of aerosol that contains suspended particulate matter.

エアロゾル,煙霧質ともいう.分散系の一種で,気体を分散媒とする.分散相が液体の例は霧で,固体が分散したものが煙である.安定度が悪く,容器中で放置すると分散粒子が沈降したり容器壁に付着するものが多い.汚染大気中に見られるいわゆるスモッグは浮遊粒子状物質を含む一種のエーロゾルである.
