A specification for highly reliable Linux established by the open source promotion organization OSDL (Open Source Development Labs) in order to promote the business use of Linux. Linux has not been widely used as a core system because its development has been carried out as open source and therefore does not necessarily guarantee high reliability. Against this background, there is a demand for highly reliable Linux, and this specification was established as one of the guidelines. Linuxのビジネス利用を推進するために、オープンソース推進団体のOSDL（Open Source Development Labs）が定めた、高信頼性Linuxの仕様。Linuxの開発はオープンソースで進められたことなどから、必ずしも高信頼性を保証するものではないため、基幹システムとしては普及していない。このような背景から、信頼性の高いLinuxが求められるようになり、そのひとつの指針として定められた仕様。
