In terms of developmental order, the first view is older, and the Greek word psyche (or anima in Latin), which corresponds to the mind or soul, originally meant breath, a kind of life force that resides in and moves the body of a living person and leaves the body at death. However, in classical Greece, centered around Athens, another usage had already become common....
