The natural, geographical, and man-made conditions related to rocket launch sites are as follows: (1) Latitude: Generally, low latitudes, especially directly on the equator, are desirable. Rockets launched directly on the equator and due east can make the most efficient use of the centrifugal force of the Earth's rotation. A major advantage of launching directly on the equator and due east is that it saves rocket fuel by the Earth's rotational speed (0.464 km/s), compared to the hypothetical satellite speed of 7.905 km/s (first cosmic velocity) on the Earth's surface.

　ロケット発射場に関する自然，地理的および人為的条件として以下のものがある。(1)緯度　一般的には低緯度，とくに赤道直下が望ましい。赤道直下から真東に発射されたロケットは地球の自転遠心力をもっとも効率よく利用できる。地球表面での仮想的人工衛星速度7.905km/s(第一宇宙速度)に対し，赤道直下で真東に発射する場合，地球自転周速度の分(0.464km/s)だけロケットの燃料を節約できるのは大きな利点である。
