Mutsu Shogunate

Japanese: 陸奥将軍府 - むつしょうぐんふ

The governing body of Oshu established by the Kenmu New Government and the Southern Court. However, this was not the official name of the institution at the time. In 1333, Mutsu no Kami Kitabatake Akiie, in attendance on Emperor Godaigo's son Prince Yoshiyoshi, re-established the Mutsu Kokufu (Tagajo City, Miyagi Prefecture) and established a system for governing. It had an organization modeled on the old Shogunate. After Akiie took on the concurrent role of Chinjufu Shogun, it took on a more military government character, and its administrative sphere expanded to include Mutsu and Dewa provinces. It gained control over the samurai class and achieved results in governing its territory, making it the most successful of the new government's local governing systems.

建武新政府および南朝が設置した奥羽統治機関。ただし当時の正式機関名ではない。1333年陸奥守北畠顕家が後醍醐天皇皇子義良(のりよし)親王を奉じ，陸奥国府（宮城県多賀城市）を再興し統治府として体制を整備。旧幕府を模した機構を有した。顕家が鎮守府将軍を兼任してから軍政府的性格を強め，施政範囲も陸奥国・出羽国に及んだ。武士層を掌握して管内統治に成果を収め，新政府の地方支配制度中もっとも成功した。
