Fizz

Japanese: フィズ（英語表記）fizz

A style of long drink cocktail in which spirits are mixed with lemon juice and sugar, shaken, poured into a tumbler with ice, and carbonated water is added. There are gin-based "gin fizz" and whiskey-based "whiskey fizz". For those made with liqueur, for example, the fizz of the liqueur "creme de cassis" is called "cassis fizz", with a part of the liqueur's characteristics added before the name. Also, those made by adding citrus juice other than lemon are often named after the fruit, such as "orange fizz" or "grapefruit fizz", regardless of the type of spirit. ◇The fizzing sound made by carbonation.

ロングドリンクタイプのカクテルのスタイルの一つで、スピリッツにレモンジュース、砂糖を加えてシェークし、氷を入れたタンブラーに注いで炭酸水を加えたもの。ジンベースの「ジンフィズ」、ウイスキーベースの「ウイスキーフィズ」などがある。リキュールを用いたものは、たとえば「クレーム・ド・カシス」というリキュールのフィズは「カシスフィズ」というように、リキュールの特徴をあらわす一部分を前に付けていう。また、レモン以外の柑橘系の果汁を加えてつくるものは、スピリッツの種類によらず「オレンジフィズ」「グレープフルーツフィズ」のように果物の名を付けることが多い。◇炭酸が発泡するシューッという音の意。
