Bifukumon'in

Empress of the retired Emperor Toba. Daughter of Fujiwara Nagazane, her name was Tokuko, and her mother was Masako, the daughter of Minamoto Toshifusa. Mother of Emperor Konoe. Toba had a bad relationship with Empress Taikenmon'in, so, unusually for a retired emperor, he made Kayain his empress. However, he did not have a son, so he had Tokuko, who was rumored to be beautiful, enter the palace, and Prince Narihito was born. In 1141 (Eiji 1), at the age of three, Narihito ascended to the throne (Emperor Konoe), and his mother Tokuko's power as empress also increased. In 1149 (Kyuan 5), she was given the title of inn. When Toba died in 1156 (Hogen 1), she became a nun and was called Shinshojo. He died on November 23, 1280. His grave is in the Koyasan Mausoleum in Renkadani, Koya-cho, Ito-gun, Wakayama Prefecture.

鳥羽(とば)上皇の皇后。藤原長実(ながざね)の娘で名は得子、母は源俊房(としふさ)の娘方子。近衛(このえ)天皇の母。鳥羽は皇后待賢門院(たいけんもんいん)との仲が不和で、そのため上皇としては異例であったが、高陽(かや)院を皇后とした。しかし期待された男子が生まれず、そこで美貌(びぼう)の噂(うわさ)の高かった得子を入内(じゅだい)させ、皇子体仁(なりひと)親王が生まれた。1141年（永治1）3歳のとき体仁は皇位につき（近衛天皇）、母である得子の皇后としての権勢も高まった。49年（久安5）院号宣下。56年（保元1）鳥羽の死に際して落飾、真性定と称す。永暦(えいりゃく)元年11月23日死去。墓は和歌山県伊都(いと)郡高野(こうや)町大字高野山字蓮花谷の高野山陵。
