Vasopressin

Japanese: バソプレシン（英語表記）vasopressin

Also known as antidiuretic hormone (ADH), it is one of the hormones of the posterior pituitary gland that regulates urine volume (antidiuretic effect). Like oxytocin, it is a cyclic peptide consisting of nine amino acids, and in most mammals, including humans, the eighth amino acid is arginine, so it is called arginine vasopressin, while in pigs and other animals, it is called lysine vasopressin, so it is called lysine vasopressin. Vasopressin is synthesized in nerve cells in the hypothalamus of the brain, and is transported through nerve fibers to the posterior pituitary gland, where it is stored, and is secreted into the blood in response to stimuli such as slight changes in the osmotic pressure of the blood or a decrease in blood volume.

抗利尿ホルモン(ADH)とも呼ばれ，尿量を調節する作用(抗利尿作用)をもつ脳下垂体後葉ホルモンの一つ。オキシトシンと同様，9個のアミノ酸からなる環状ペプチドで，ヒトをはじめ大部分の哺乳類では8番目のアミノ酸がアルギニンでアルギニン･バソプレシンといい，ブタなどではリジンでリジン･バソプレシンという。脳の視床下部の神経細胞で合成されたバソプレシンは，神経繊維を通って脳下垂体後葉に運ばれて貯蔵され，血液の浸透圧のわずかな変化や血液量の減少などの刺激に応じて，血液中に分泌される。
