Jusuke Nakamura
Kabuki playwright. There were four generations. The second generation is the most famous. (1) The first generation (1698-1755, Genroku 11-Hōreki 5) The third son of Nakamura Kanzaburō IV. He was a public performer and also worked as a playwright. (2) The second generation (1749-1803, Kan'en 2-Kyōwa 3) According to one theory, he was born in 1745 (Enkyō 2). His haiku names were Koichi and Tsuruko. He was the son of Nakamura Shichisaburo II. His childhood name was Tokunosuke (one theory says Katsutaro). His previous name was Nakamura Denjirō V. In 1864 (Meiwa 1), he first worked at the Nakamura-za under the name Nakamura Jusuke. In 1868, he started working at the Morita-za. He was active thereafter as an independent playwright.

歌舞伎作者。4世まである。2世が有名。(1)初世(1698‐1755∥元禄11‐宝暦5) 4世中村勘三郎の三男。表方(おもてかた)で作者を兼ねた。(2)2世(1749‐1803∥寛延2‐享和3) 一説では1745年(延享2)生れ。俳名故一,鶴子。2世中村七三郎の子。幼名徳之助(一説に勝太郎)。前名5世中村伝次郎。64年(明和1)中村重助の名で中村座に初出勤。68年森田座に出勤。以後独立した作者として活躍。
