A modern Chinese revolutionary movement that aims to overthrow the landlord class, abolish feudal land ownership, and distribute land to peasants. Under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, it was carried out in various rural revolutionary base areas, including Ruijin in Jiangxi Province, during the Ten Years' Civil War with the Kuomintang (1927-37). The same movement, which was later carried out around the time of the founding of the People's Republic, is called land reform. During the National Revolution (1924-27), the Chinese Communist Party cooperated with the Kuomintang to open peasant movement training centers in Guangzhou and Wuhan to train rural cadres, organized "peasant associations" in various places, and launched a peasant movement with the aim of improving the harsh relationship between landlords and tenant farmers and "reducing rents."

地主階級を打倒し，封建的土地所有制を廃絶して，農民に土地を分配する中国現代の革命運動をいう。中国共産党の指導下，国民党との十年内戦期(1927‐37)に，江西省瑞金地方はじめ各農村革命根拠地で展開された。のちに人民共和国成立の前後に実施された同一の運動は土地改革と称する。国民革命期(1924‐27)に中国共産党は国民党と合作，農民運動講習所を広州，武漢に開設して農村幹部を養成し，各地に〈農民協会〉を組織するとともに，過酷な地主･小作関係の改善と〈減租減息〉を掲げて農民運動を繰り広げた。
