Land Reform - Tochikaikaku

This refers to the policies of new governments and the process of their implementation that aim to abolish or change the old land system during social change processes that include revolution and counter-revolution. They vary depending on the world historical stage and international situation, the old land system and the reform tasks that face it, and the class background and capabilities of the new government. Land reform during the transition to capitalism is particularly important, and its structure will be a fundamental factor in determining the subsequent development process. Here, we will first provide an overview of land reform in Western Europe and Russia up until the beginning of the 20th century (with particular attention to the impact of earlier land reforms on later reforms in other regions), and then describe land reform in China after World War II.
