Tikhonov, Nikolai Semënovich

[Died] February 8, 1979.
Soviet poet. He was a member of the literary group "The Serapion Brothers", but joined the Red Army during the Civil War, and published Orda (1922) and Braga (22), collections of poems full of revolutionary romanticism. He also wrote Yurga (26-30), a collection of poems about building socialism in Turkmenistan and Georgia, Gruzinskaya vesna (48-49), and Kirov s nami (41), an epic poem praising the heroism of the Leningrad people under German siege during the German-Soviet War. He also wrote many works, such as Rasskazy o Pakistane (50), which were born from his travels in Asia and Europe during his social activities as a member of the World Peace Council.

[Died] June 1, 1997. Moscow, Moscow. Soviet politician. Doctor of Engineering. A leading figure in the Brezhnev faction, also known as the Dnieper faction. While working as a steam locomotive driver's assistant, he graduated from Dnepropetrovsk Metallurgical University in 1930. In 1940, he joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. From 1947 to 1950, he was the head of a steel pipe plant, from 1950 to 1954 he was director of the Ministry of Steel's General Directorate, and from 1955 to 1957 he was Deputy Minister of the same ministry. From 1960 to 1963, he was Deputy Chairman of the State Council for Science and Economy. From 1963 to 1965, he was Deputy Chairman of the State Planning Committee. From 1965, he was Deputy Prime Minister, and from 1966 to 1989, he was a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. In 1976, he was appointed First Deputy Prime Minister, and in November 1979, he was appointed member of the Politburo of the Party. In October 1980, he became Prime Minister, succeeding Prime Minister AN Kosygin. In 1985, he was dismissed from the position of Prime Minister. In April 1989, he was dismissed from the Central Committee.

ソ連の政治家。工学博士。ドニエプル派と呼ばれるブレジネフ派の重鎮であった。蒸気機関車運転助士のかたわら,1930年ドニエプロペトロフスク冶金大学を卒業。 40年ソ連共産党入党。 47~50年鋼管工場長,50~54年鉄鋼省総局長,55~57年同次官。 60~63年国家科学・経済評議会副議長。 63~65年国家計画委員会副議長。 65年副首相,66~89年党中央委員。 1976年第一副首相,79年 11月党政治局員に就任。 80年 10月,A.N.コスイギン首相の後任として首相に就任した。 85年首相解任。 89年4月中央委員解任。
