[1] 〘名〙① (「たま」は美称) 清らかな水、または滝。※万代(1248‐49)秋下「月影のやどりてみがく玉水の玉津都に秋風ぞふく〈藤原道家〉」② 特に、あまだれなどの水滴の美称。軒さき、木の葉などから落ちるしずく。※後撰(951‐953頃)恋一・五七八「雨やまぬのきの玉水かずしらず恋しき事のまさるころ哉〈平兼盛〉」[2][一] 山城国(京都府)綴喜郡井手町にあった井手の玉川。歌枕。※伊勢物語(10C前)一二二「山城の井手のたま水手にむすびたのみしかひもなき世なりけり」[二] 謡曲。四番目物。廃曲。作者未詳。都見物の東国の旅僧が春日神社へ参詣の途中、井手の玉水のあたりで、橘清友と契った水汲み女の霊に会い、昔物語を聞き、その跡を弔う。やがて清友と女が本性を現わして僧の仏事によって成仏する。[三] 江戸時代の売薬の一つ。江戸神田松田町(東京都千代田区鍛冶町二丁目)に本舗のあった湿疹の薬。※狂歌・江戸名所図会(1856)二「しっかきのいちかり股で来る客をまつだ町にてひさぐ玉水」
