Tanuma noisy animals - Tanuma noisy animals

Japanese: 田沼騒動物 - たぬまそうどうもの
Tanuma noisy animals - Tanuma noisy animals
A type of Kabuki and Joruri. A group of plays dealing with the incident in Edo Castle in 1784 (Tenmei 4) when Sano Zenzaemon (Sano Masanori) stabbed Tanuma Okitomo, a young councilor, and Sano committed seppuku. The people were strongly opposed to the tyranny of Tanuma and his son, and a flag of the Great God of Reform was dedicated to Sano's grave. Shortly after the incident, in August of the same year, "Inabikari Tagoto no Tsuki" (Lightning in the Fields Every Month) (written by Nagakawa Shimesuke) was performed at a theater in Osaka, and was dramatized as an unusual piece, with the setting being the world of the Soga clan.
