Tatsuyama [village] - Tatsuyama

Japanese: 竜山[村] - たつやま

A village in Iwata County, western Shizuoka Prefecture. Population 1,410 (1995). A mountain village located in the midstream of the Tenryu River. The river flows south through the center, and National Route 152 runs along the valley. Most of the village area is covered in forest, and the man-made forests of cedar and cypress are some of the most beautiful in Japan. In addition to timber, the village produces tea, shiitake mushrooms, persimmons, etc. In the south is Akiha Dam (total storage capacity 34,700 ^km3 ) on the Tenryu River, and along with Shirakura Gorge in the west, it is a tourist destination. Nippon Mining's Minenosawa Mine, which produced copper and iron on the east bank of the Tenryu River, closed in 1969.

静岡県西部，磐田郡の村。人口1410(1995)。天竜川中流域に位置する山村。中央部を天竜川が南流し，谷沿いに国道152号線が通る。村域の大部分が森林におおわれ，杉とヒノキの人工林は日本有数の美林である。木材のほか，茶，シイタケ，柿などを産する。南部に天竜川の秋葉ダム(総貯水量3万4700km³)があり，西部の白倉峡とともに観光地になっている。天竜川東岸で銅，鉄を産出した日本鉱業の峰之沢鉱山は1969年休山した。
