Abū Manūr Muammad Daqīqī (English spelling)

Persian poet. Born in Tus or Balkh. Served as a court poet in the Samanid dynasty. He excelled in describing nature and composed many odes and lyric poems, but his greatest achievement was composing a national epic poem based on Iranian mythology and folklore at the king's command. However, he was murdered by a slave after composing about 1,000 lines, leaving the work unfinished. His work was later included in Firdousi's Shahnameh.
