Sekondi‐Takoradi (English spelling)

Japanese: セコンディ･タコラディ（英語表記）Sekondi‐Takoradi

An important port city in southwestern Ghana, West Africa. Population 104,000 (1988). The capital of the Western Region facing the Gulf of Guinea, it is divided into two districts: Sekondi is mainly commercial and residential, while Takoradi, about 10 km to the east, is a developed area for cocoa processing, tobacco, railway repair, shipbuilding and other industries. The town of Sekondi first emerged around a fort built by the Dutch and British in the 17th century, and after the inland railway was opened in 1903, it became an export port for timber, cocoa, minerals and other products.

西アフリカ，ガーナ南西部の重要な港湾都市。人口10万4000(1988)。ギニア湾に面した西部州の州都で2地区に分かれ，セコンディは商業と住宅を主とし，約10km東方のタコラディはココアを主とする加工業，タバコ，鉄道修理，造船などの工業が発達している。17世紀にオランダとイギリスが建設した城塞を中心に，まずセコンディの町が出現し，1903年内陸に通じる鉄道が開通してから，木材，ココア，鉱産物などの輸出港となった。
