Neoplatonism

Japanese:
Neoplatonism
A school of Greek philosophy with strong metaphysical and mystical overtones that was established in the 3rd century and later by integrating Platonic philosophy with Neo-Pythagoreanism, Aristotelianism, Stoicism, and other ideas. It was founded by Plotinus. Porphyry, Iamblichus, and Proclus are known as thinkers of this school. It is characterized by the incorporation of esoteric traditions from the Orient and Egypt through Plotinus' teacher Ammonius Saccus. After the closure of the Academy in 529, the official lineage of the school was discontinued, but it was accepted in the medieval Christian world and even the Islamic world through the works of Augustine and Dionysius the Areopagite, and was widely revived in the West during the Renaissance, and its lifeline continues to this day, undergoing various transformations.
