Seizokukibun - Chronicles of the People

Japanese: 清俗紀聞 - しんぞくきぶん

A book that explains with illustrations the customs of the Qing dynasty as heard from Chinese who came to Nagasaki during the Edo period. Edited by Nakagawa Chuhide. 13 volumes. Published in Kansei 11 (1799). Chuhide, who was working in Nagasaki at the time, gathered information from visiting Chinese merchants through an interpreter. The book mainly illustrates daily life in the Jiangnan region, as well as weddings, funerals, and other ceremonial occasions, making it a valuable resource for learning about the customs of China at that time.

江戸時代，長崎に渡来した中国人から清朝の風俗を聞き，絵図で解説した書。中川忠英編。 13巻。寛政 11 (1799) 年刊。長崎在職中の忠英が，来航する清国商人から通訳を通じて聞き出したもので，おもに江南地方の日常生活，冠婚葬祭などが図説してあり，当時の中国における風俗を知るうえで貴重な資料である。
