The double suicide blade is the first day of the month of ice - Shinju Yaiba wa Koori no Tsukiichi
Joruri. Sewamono. Three volumes. Written by Chikamatsu Monzaemon. First performed at the Takemotoza Theater in Osaka in 1709. A dramatization of the double suicide that took place in the indigo fields of Kitano, Osaka , between Heibei, a blacksmith's apprentice, and Kokanto, a prostitute from Hiranoya in Sonezaki-Shinchi.
