Bell

Japanese:
Bell
A metal bowl-shaped percussion instrument. There are two types: those that are struck by a tongue suspended inside the rim of the instrument, and those that are struck from the outside. The former include bells, bells, and bells, while the latter include temple bells and temple bells. Early ones were generally small and broadly divided into hand bells, which were rang by swinging a handle attached to the top, and ones that were attached to a string and sewn to clothing or hung on a person's limbs or the neck of a livestock. Large ones were first made in China (bells), and even larger temple bells were invented on the Korean Peninsula. They were introduced to Europe after the 5th century, and hand bells were first spread by the Celts. At the end of the 6th century, bells began to be cast in Italy, and developed in connection with Christian churches. A mechanical method of ringing bells was also devised (carillon).

Bell

A bronze, bowl-shaped percussion instrument used in Chinese gagaku music. In Chinese, it is called zhong. It is a type of bell. In the Chinese octave system, it is a type of gold. The body is slightly narrow at the top and widens as it goes downwards, with the bottom edge arching inwards. There is a handle at the top and numerous milk-shaped protrusions on the body, and the center of the bottom edge is struck with a hammer. In ancient times, it was a standard tool for tuning. A single one hung on a rack is called a special bell, and a set of several is called a bienzhong. It was popular in the Bronze Age Zhou dynasty, and bienzhong appeared in the mid-Western Zhou dynasty. Bienzhong was used to invite and comfort ancestral gods during festivals, while also praying for the prosperity of oneself and one's clan.
