A producer in the American musical industry. Born in Chicago to a German father who was a classical musician. He achieved success with his show at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair, and after traveling to Europe, he began managing theaters in 1996. He made his debut on Broadway in 1907, and in 1911 began the spectacular revue "Ziegfeld Follies," featuring a group of beautiful women known as the Ziegfeld Girls on a grand staircase, which became one of New York's famous revues for over 20 years. He directed the premieres of musicals such as "Show Boat" and "Rio Rita" (both in 1927), but went bankrupt in the stock market crash of 1929 and passed away in Hollywood. In 1936, a biographical film, "Ziegfeld: The Great Star," was made, featuring recreations of his stage performances.
