Korankei

Japanese:
Korankei

The valley of the Tomoe River, a tributary of the Yahagi River that flows through Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture. It is famous for its mountain streams and autumn leaves. It is a tourist base for the Aichi Kogen Quasi-National Park. It is part of the Tokai Nature Trail. It is said that the autumn leaves began when the 11th head priest of the famous temple Kojakuji, San'ei, planted them on the approach to the temple, and the entire population of the former Asuke town continued to plant them, creating a beautiful sight with cedars and cherry trees mixed in. The place name is said to have been derived from one character each from Kojakuji Temple and Arashiyama in Kyoto. Iimoriyama is one of the seven medieval Asuke castles. Nearby are Asuke Hachiman Shrine and Sanshu Asuke Yashiki. There are buses from Toyotashi Station, Higashi-Okazaki Station, and other stations.
