〘Noun〙 One of the head puppets in Bunraku. The name comes from Kajiwara Genta Kageyoshi from "Hiragana Seisuiki," and the character is a handsome yatsushi (acting puppet) around 20 years old. As a rule, the eyes do not move and eyebrows are drawn. This head has a fresh sex appeal and elegance, and is widely used in both historical and domestic dramas, such as Sakuramaru from "Sugawara Denju Tenarai Kagami" and Chubei from "Meido no Hikyaku." *Gakuya Zue Shui (1802), Vol. 2: "In Genta 's time, he was a yatsushi. There were many of them." Source: The Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary About the Selected Edition of the Japanese Language Dictionary Information |
