A town in the central part of Himachal Pradesh, northwest India. Located at the entrance to the Kullu-Manali Gorge along the Beas River, it is also famous as a summer resort. It produces rice, potatoes, and fruit, and distributes agricultural products from the surrounding areas. Population 14,566 (1991).
