Japanese: 楠[町] - くすのき

A former town in Asa County, located in the western part of Yamaguchi Prefecture, bordering the cities of Ube and Onoda (now Sanyo Onoda City) to the north. The main settlement, Funaki, which was a former post town on the Sanyo Road, is located in the Ariho River basin to the south. Rice, vegetables, and greenhouse gardening are practiced. Akama inkstones are a specialty of the town. Incorporated into Ube City in November 2004. Area: 77.02 ^km2 . Population: 7,317 (2003).

Camphor tree [town] [Kusu]

An old town in Mie County between Suzuka City and Yokkaichi City in northern Mie Prefecture. It belongs to the Hokusei Industrial Zone and is a thriving spinning industry, as well as brewing, chemical and machinery industries. The Kintetsu Nagoya Line runs through the area and urbanization is progressing. It was incorporated into Yokkaichi City in February 2005. 7.76 ^km2 . Population: 11,002 (2003).
