Located in a paddy field in the center of the Honam Plain, the largest plain on the Korean peninsula. Irrigation has been an important part of Korea's granary since ancient times, and a large reservoir called Byeonggolje was built during the Silla period. Currently, artificial irrigation is well developed, including water from a dam upstream of the Seomjin River that is diverted into the Dongjin River, stabilizing harvests. Administrative and agricultural institutions are concentrated in the city, and it is becoming an urban area as a commercial center. ...
