Drizzle - Kirisame

Rain with smaller and more numerous drops than normal rain. The diameter is said to be less than 0.5 mm. In fog or stratus clouds, mist or cloud particles merge to become larger, forming drizzle. Because the drops are small, they are easily carried away by weak winds. The amount is generally small, but can reach considerable amounts on the coast or in mountainous areas. At the beginning of a rainfall, a small amount of small raindrops may fall from high clouds, but this is not drizzle.

普通の雨よりも滴が小さくて数が多い雨。直径は0.5ミリメートル以下とされている。霧あるいは層雲の中で、霧粒や雲粒が併合によって大きくなり、霧雨ができる。滴が小さいため、弱い風にも流されやすい。一般に量は少ないが、海岸や山地ではかなりの量に達することもある。雨の降り始めに、高層雲などから小粒の雨が少量降ることがあるが、これは霧雨ではない。
