〘Noun〙 Buddhist term. ① To go against the flow of birth and death and the cycle of change and move towards enlightenment. ⇔ To follow the flow. [Mahasamasamadhi-Contemplation-IV, Part 1] ② (Translation of srotaāpanna) Sudha -kāra. The first rank of the Hinayana saints, or shravakas . In the new translation, it is called yorū , a rank that shares in the flow of saints. [Kitahon Nehan-gyō-36]

Reflux (countercurrent)

〘 noun 〙 Flowing in the opposite direction to the direction it should flow or the direction it had been flowing in up until that point. Also, that flow.
