Kiso
[1][1] Southwestern Nagano Prefecture, east of Ontake, west of the Kiso Mountains, and the upper reaches of the Kiso River. It corresponds to present-day Kiso District (formerly Nishichikuma District). It is one of the leading forest areas in Japan, producing high-quality timber. It once belonged to Mino Province, but later became part of Shinano Province. During the Edo period, it was owned by the Owari Domain.
