Kimono fabric - kijaku

Japanese:
Kimono fabric - kijaku

This refers to Japanese fabric for tailoring into long kimonos. One shaku of kujira shaku is 38 centimeters, which is equivalent to 1 shaku 2.5 sun of kanejaku, but in the past, 2.6 shaku or 2.8 shaku of length was needed, but as people have grown taller, 3.6 shaku has been needed, and with the implementation of the metric system, the length is now measured as about 11.4 meters, and the width as 36 or 37 centimeters. However, the width is measured as 9 sun or 9.5 sun due to traditional circumstances in each region, so the conversion is done accordingly. Depending on the processing method, it is called dyed cloth length or woven cloth length, and depending on the fiber, it is called wool cloth length, synthetic fiber cloth length, mixed woven cloth length, etc., in addition to cotton and silk, but these are colloquial names in the textile industry.
